In a letter, 1908 October 1, Hawthorne, New York City, writes to Dr. Theodore F. Wolfe, Succasunna, New Jersey, promoting the sale of stock for his Canadian mining venture. In a letter fragment, 1912 February 6, Wolfe explains that the sending of letters such as the one above resulted in Hawthorne's subsequent indictment by the New York Grand Jury.
